Been missing “Alone in a Crowd?” Well, here’s something from lunch break sketching.
I really needed to draw my girls, so I figured I’d combine them with my latest obsession. I’ll have to scan this properly later.
Just a random sketch I did of Hope the other day. I really don’t know what’s up with her outfit. But it’s Hope. She doesn’t need a rhyme or reason.
My New Years resolution is to sketch more often. I’m woefully behind on randomly sketching and doing quick studies. I started to, but over the past couple of months I haven’t really done much. We’ll blame the holidays. I’d like to do a couple a week or so. It’s how you improve! And draw cool stuff you might not otherwise in the comic.
Anyway, here’s Sara stepping outside at some New Years Eve party, getting some fresh air and reflecting on the New Year she’s facing. Those lines come from the Death Cab For Cutie song “The New Year.” I sure could have drawn that railing better.
It’s time for a sketch of “Alone in a Crowd’s” first polarizing character! Some people love her, some people hate her. She is Sadia!
I wanted to do a sketch of her just sort of hanging out, so I could try some fun, sporty clothes on her and experiment with slightly different hair. One of her character traits is that she dyes her hair different colors quite often.
The background is VERY rough in this, I admit. Mostly because I figured I’d make it more refined and detailed when I inked and colored this. Hopefully that’ll happen sometime soon.
I did a little sketch of Lyra from “My Little Pony: Friendship” is magic the other day, because, come on, who doesn’t simply love Lyra?
I really would like to ink and color this when I get a chance ^-^
It’s been a while since I’ve posted some random sketches. I’ve had a lot going on lately, so I haven’t been sketching as much as I’d like. Finally I have some stuff to show off.
I was listening to this song (I don’t remember which one….maybe it was “Gangnam Style”) and I had this sequence in my head where all the AIAC characters were dancing. Sara was doing ok, but Hope was just a random, silly dancer. You know, wild, all over the place. Not bad necessarily, just uncoordinated. Anyway, Faith is just off to the side looking frustrated. Then she finally just walks over, ties her hair back, and surprises everyone by being an AMAZING dancer.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever make it cannon that Faith is a great dancer, but I did have to play with the idea a bit. These were a couple sketches of a Dancer Faith. First things first though, I need to figure out how to draw dancing. That would help.

Hey, there may not be any frontal nudity in AIAC, but Desirae IS an adult films goddess, so this is par for course with her. I believe I was just practicing with these sketches, but I do think the one on the left was going to be used (altered) for an ad. But both could use a little work.
Oddly enough, I’m not sure what happened to the uncensored scan of this one. I toned it down a bit since it was a vote incentive, which was probably unnecessary anyway ;P
Haven’t dipped back into the old vote incentive sketches in a while. Here’s one where Faith finds Kayla sneaking another cigarette, and she’s none too pleased.
Faith & Sara’s crusade to get Kayla to stop smoking is one of those things from their “pre-Hope” days I’ll like to explore in a flashback or something. It seems like it’d be fun!
Somehow I imagine these two would get along really well ^-^
Had this idea in my head for a few days and was very happy to get it sketched out. I don’t draw walking often (as weird as that sounds) so I hope it came out OK. I’ll be adding a background to this and coloring it in the future. Perhaps turn it into a print? We’ll see!
